How to use EasyWMA?

Open your wma audio files by choosing "Open..." in the "File" menu, or simply drag and drop the files you want to convert on EasyWMA window. Notice that since version 2.0, you can directly open or drag and drop folders, EasyWMA will automatically look for all wma files.

EasyWMA will create a new file with a ".mp3" extension in the same folder as the original wma file (or on the Desktop if the folder is not writable). You can also choose to save converted file in the folder of your choice in EasyWMA's preferences:

EasyWMA provides iTunes integration: you can automatically add converted files to a playlist in iTunes. To do so, enable the option in the preferences window:

Frequently asked questions

1. How does EasyWMA work?
EasyWMA uses FFmpeg convert files from wma to mp3 or wav.
2. When I open a wma file with EasyWMA, nothing happens, I only see the name of the file with a red dot. What does it mean?
The red dot means the conversion failed. The conversion may fail if the wma file is encoded with an unsupported or unknown codec. EasyWMA will be updated regularly and will benefit from new codec support in FFmpeg.
3. EasyWMA creates an unreadable file which is approximatively 4k or 8k in size, why?
Your wma file is probably DRM protected. EasyWMA will not convert any DRM protected file and will generate a file which is usually 4k or 8k instead.
4. Can EasyWMA convert wma files encoded with the wma lossless or the wma voice codec?
No. EasyWMA does not support the wma lossless and wma voice codecs for now. You will likely see a red dot and an error message in this case.
5. Can EasyWMA convert DRM protected file coming from CDs or bought online?
No. DRM protected files cannot be converted.
6. Can EasyWMA convert mp3 files to wma?
No. EasyWMA cannot save audio files in wma format. It can only do the conversion the other way around: from wma to mp3, m4a and wav.
7. When I click on a wma/wmv file on a web page, EasyWMA converts the file automatically. How can make Windows Media Player open media files automatically again?
You can change the default application used to open wma/wmv files in the Finder. Select a wma/wmv file in the Finder and then Get Info in the File menu. In the Open With section, select Windows Media Player in the popup menu and finally click on the Change All button so that it becomes the default application.
